From February 1st to 7th 2026, twelve students from our school, accompanied by two teachers, had the opportunity to participate in an approved European Erasmus+ program entitled “Professional readiness with 21st century skills in Evening EPAL”, and to travel to the city of Schkeuditz, approximately 15 kilometers from Leipzig in Germany.
Specifically, students from the Department of Informatics, the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation were trained for one week on topics related to their subject, such as installation and operation of Smart Home and technical elements of vehicle engineering. The training they received, the facilities in which they were hosted, in a fully renovated complex of buildings dating from the late 19th century, as well as the collaboration with the Organization that undertook the hosting and training, left the best impressions on everyone.
At the same time, the students and their accompanying teachers, Mr. Andreas Ioannidis and Ms. Styliani Katharaki , were given a guided tour of the picturesque city of Leipzig, coming into contact with its great historical past, and took a full-day trip to Berlin, where they visited historical monuments of the city, such as the Brandenburg Gate, the old Parliament building (Reichstag Building), Potsdamer Platz and Alexander Platz. A rare experience was the visit and organized tour of the BMW factory, a few kilometers outside Leipzig. There, our students were impressed by the organization, speed and modern car manufacturing technology, which combines human knowledge with robotic power.
For our adult students, the education, tours and their collaboration with students from Serbia, Ireland, Croatia, Bulgaria and Portugal during this Erasmus+ week confirmed once again that the effort and time they dedicate to expanding and certifying their knowledge at the Esperino EPAL Rethymnou is not without reward.
